Paul Porras
Coaches Comments
Paul is one of my most consistent members. He is always striving to better himself and never cuts corners during a work out. He is great at taking coaches tips and is always willing to try RX if he thinks he can do it properly. Also he’s just an all around good guy. Very pleasant to have him in class. —Coach Brandon T.
Paul has a great personality and an inner desire to succeed which drives him to give his best effort each and every time, no matter what it is. He never overestimates his abilities and is always a pleasure to have in class.—Coach Annie O
What is the biggest change you’ve seen in yourself since you started CrossFit?
The biggest differences that I noticed are physically and mentally. Physical I feel stronger and I have more energy than in the past. Mentally, I feel that I can take on different challenges in life. I am also more aware of the food then I eat and the number of hours that I sleep.
What do you like about it?
What I like about CrossFit are the different types of workouts. I also like the community; everyone seems supportive and helpful. The support, (specialty during the Opens), gave me more strength to finish the workouts. In the past, I worked out in a regular gym and I didn’t really have that support. The coaches are nice and helpful and are always encouraging me to keep going. They are also very knowledgeable with the different types of stretches and warm up drills. I also like the feeling of getting a PR because I can see my progress and it pushes me to lift heavier and/or to finish the WODs faster.
What is your favorite CrossFit movement? My favorite movement is front squats. This movement requires a lot of concentration and effort.
What would you say to someone who wants to try it?
Don’t knock it until you try. The workouts are tough and challenging but you will always have a lot of support from everyone in the gym. You may be sore for days but you’ll live.
What is something people might not know about you?
I like to cook Peruvian food and I am actually pretty good at it.
