My Y & CrossFit Story

I have been a Y member for over 20 years. My parents have been members for 27 years. I was part of my family’s membership and then joined with my own family. I was an athlete in high school and came to the Y to work out and I also did group exercise classes with my mom.

We met Annie, our group exercise instructor who is also a personal trainer. I have trained with her and so does my mom and my neighbors. Annie is also a CrossFit coach. After I had my second child I started doing CrossFit.

What I like most about CrossFit is the culture, the people, the flexibility and the results I have gotten since I had my son in January 2023.  There are several classes each day and open gym options which make it very convenient for my busy schedule being a working mom of two young kids. I am able to come on my lunch break some days and at night when my daughter has gymnastics.

I tend to like the more cardio based WODs because I love running, however I joined CrossFit to work more on lifting weights and building muscle.

If a friend asked me about CrossFit, I would tell them to join! Give it chance because it is a great experience, helps get you in shape, meet new people and meet your goals.

My daughter learned to swim at the Y, plays soccer here and is on the pre-team at Y gymnastics.

I have enjoyed all of the experiences at the Y and CrossFit Meriden, the friends and fitness programs I have been exposed to. It is very family friendly, babysitting is available, there are activities for kids and all different classes are offered to accommodate ones needs.
